Alen M. K. Kaneshiro was born and raised on the windward side of Oahu. He is proud not only to be locally born, but also locally educated. Alen graduated from Kailua High School and the University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa before earning his Juris Doctor from the William S. Richardson School of Law.

Following law school, Alen joined the Hawaiʻi State Office of the Public Defender, where he gained extensive courtroom experience representing individuals charged with criminal offenses. In 2010, he founded his private practice, focusing on criminal defense and personal injury litigation.

Over the course of his career, Alen has effectively represented thousands of clients in state and federal courts throughout Hawaiʻi, including Oʻahu, Maui, Hawaiʻi Island, Kauaʻi, Molokaʻi, and Lānaʻi. He has successfully defended clients before judges and juries in a wide range of cases, resulting in numerous dismissals, acquittals, favorable plea resolutions, and post-conviction reversals on appeal.

In addition to his trial practice, Alen regularly handles appellate matters and has filed appeals and argued cases before the Hawaiʻi Intermediate Court of Appeals and the Hawaiʻi Supreme Court. He also represents clients in the United States District Court for the District of Hawaiʻi and has extensive experience navigating both state and federal criminal proceedings.

While known for his willingness to take cases to trial, Alen has also negotiated thousands of favorable plea agreements and resolutions on behalf of his clients. His practice is guided by a commitment to providing aggressive advocacy, practical advice, and personalized representation tailored to each client’s unique circumstances.

Outside of the office, Alen enjoys spending time with family and friends and can often be found fishing on the weekends.
